Observe that the length of the ladder refers to the hypotenuse of the right triangle formed. So, we have to use Pythagorean's Theorem

c^2=a^2+b^2

Where c = h, a = 9, and b = 7.

\begin{gathered} c^2=9^2+7^2 \\ c^2=81+49 \\ c=\sqrt[]{130} \\ c\approx11.40 \end{gathered}

Hence, the ladder is 11.40 meters long.
