Given:


11(39-3)

Note that the acronym PEMDAS describes the order of operations and each letter stands for;

P - Parentheses

E - Exponents

M/D- Multiplication/Division (from left to right)

A/S - Addition/Subtraction (from left to right)

Following the above order of operations, we can go ahead and solve the expression as seen below;


\begin{gathered} 11(39-3) \\ =11(36) \\ =396 \end{gathered}

Using the Distributive Property, we can go ahead and solve the expression as seen below;


\begin{gathered} 11(39-3) \\ =11*39-11*3 \\ =429-33 \\ =396 \end{gathered}

We can see from the above that both methods give the same answer.
