To add fractions we have the following rule:

(a)/(b)+(c)/(d)=(ad+bc)/(bd)

Then in this case we have:

\begin{gathered} (7)/(8)+(3)/(5)=(7\cdot5+8\cdot3)/(8\cdot5) \\ =(35+24)/(40) \\ =(59)/(40) \end{gathered}

Therefore, the result of the sum is 59/40
