The dimensions of the foundation given are in feet

1yard = 3feet

To convert from feet to yard, we divide by 3

length = 30 feet = 30/3 = 10 yards

width/breadth = 15 feet = 15/3 = 5 yards

height/depth = 3 feet = 3/3 = 1 yard

The volume of the foundation is given by;

V = l x b x h

V = 10 x 5 x 1

V = 50 cubic yards

1 truck = 5 cubic yards

Therefore, to carry 50cubic yards of dirts,

50/5 trucks is needed = 10 trucks

The cost of 1 truck = $20

Hence, the contractor will pay $20 x 10 for the 10trucks = $200

Therefore, the cost the contractor pays to have all the dirt hauled away is $200.
