It can be seen from the image above that, there are tow triangles created which are labelled A and B. These triangles have a right-angle and has the length of their sides to be equal. They both have same hypotenuse and has equal opoosite sides. A diagonal divides a rectangle into two congruent triangles, that too right triangles with their hypotenuse being the same. Each diagonal acts as the hypotenuse for the right triangles so formed.
