x + 2y = -4

first, the we pass the x to the righ side with minus sign: 2y = - 4 - x

then we pass the 2 to the right side dividing: y = (-4 - x)/2

So the answer is:

X+2y=-4 solve for y-example-1
X+2y=-4 solve for y-example-2
