Since those triangles are similar we have the following relation:


(MAP)/(6)=(MRT)/((6+2))

Since we know the area of MAP, we can solve the equation above for MRT.


\begin{gathered} (MRT)/(8)=(36)/(6) \\ \Rightarrow MRT=48 \end{gathered}

Then, we get the result. The area of the triangle MRT is 48cm^2.
