To know if the classmate is right we can find the slope of the function with two different points. In the graph I can see the points (-4,-3) and (0,2)

Now we can use the slope equation:

(y_(2-)y_1)/(x_(2-)x_1)

and replace the values for our coordinates

(2-(-3))/(0-(-4))=(5)/(4)

So the answer is D) the slope is 5/4
