We need to find the area on one side of the house. The shape given in the diagram is a rectangle topped with a triangle. That being said, we also have some windows that we need to account for (because these rectangles will not get painted).

The base rectangle has a base of 32 ft and a height of 20 ft. This means that the area is 32*20 (base times height), which is 640

The triangle at the top of the house has a base of 32 ft and a height of 10 ft. The area of a triangle is one-half of the base times the height. Therefore, the area is (1/2)*32*10, which is 160

There are five windows in the house. The first four windows have a base of 2ft and a height of 6ft. Therefore, the area of each one is 2*6, or 12. The total area of these windows is 12*4 (4 windows), or 48

The last window is a square with a side length of 3. This has an area of 3*3, or 9

To find the area of the whole shape, we add the area of the large rectangle and triangle and subtract the areas of the windows. The calculation is shown below:

640+160-(48+9)=800-57=743

The area of the house is 743 ft^2. One gallon covers 350 ft^2. To find the number of gallons required to cover 743 ft^2, we can do 743/350, which is approximately 2.1 gallons
