Missing angles

We know that the addition of the inner angles of a triangle is 180º.

Writing the equations for each situation

Then

For the first case:

35º + 90º + y = 180º

↓ since 35º + 90º = 125º

125º + y = 180º

The equation for the first case is: 125º + y = 180º

For the second case:

65º + 55º + x = 180º

↓ since 65º + 55º = 120º

120º + x = 180º

The equation for the second case is: 120º + x = 180º

Finding the missing angles using the previous equations

We will use the equations we found, to find the values for x and y.

For the first case:

125º + y = 180º

↓ taking 125º to the right side of the equation

y = 180º - 125º

↓ since 180º - 125º = 55º

y = 55º

Then, the missing angle of the first triangle is y = 55º.

Answer- y = 55º

For the second case:

120º + x = 180º

↓ taking 120º to the right side of the equation

x = 180º - 120º

↓ since 180º - 120º = 60º

x = 60º

Then, the missing angle of the second triangle is x = 60º.

Answer- x = 60º
