We were told that the town received 20 Inches of rain In two weeks. A week has 7 days. This means that the number of days in 2 weeks is 2 * 7 = 14 days

Let x represent the inches of rain received in 31 days.

If the town received 20 inches of rain in two weeks, the equations would be as shown below

20 = 14

x = 31

By cross multiplying, we have

x * 14 = 20 * 31

14x = 620

x = 620/14

x = 44.286

Rounding to the nearest inch, we have 44 inches
