We have the following expression:

9-(y)/((5)/(9))

If we substitute y=1/3, we have

9-((1)/(3))/((5)/(9))

By applying the sandwhich rule

on the second term, we have

\begin{gathered} ((1)/(3))/((5)/(9))=(1\cdot9)/(3\cdot5)=(9)/(15) \\ \text{which is equal to } \\ (3)/(5) \end{gathered}

Then, our expression can be written as

9-(3)/(5)

Now, 9 is equal to 45/5, then this last result is equal to

9-(3)/(5)=(45)/(5)-(3)/(5)=(45-3)/(5)=(42)/(5)

That is, the answer is

(42)/(5)
