The domain of a function is the set of possible input values (x-values).

The range of a function is the set of possible output values (y-values).

In the case of:

y=\sqrt[]{x-1}

The value inside of the square root must be positive, then:

\begin{gathered} x-1\ge0 \\ x\ge0+1 \\ x\ge1 \end{gathered}

The output values of the square root are always positive, then

y\ge0
