11. Why is photosynthesis so important to living organisms?

All living organisms need energy to stay alive, but only producers can directly convert energy into food.
Most consumers can convert energy into food, but they can't make enough of it, so they need producers, too.
Consumers do not usually live in areas where they can get energy, so they have to eat producers to get enough energy.
Decomposers take so long to recycle dead and decaying matter that producers have to make up the difference.
