Hence to express the line -x + 3y = 6 in slope-intercept form, we need to isolate the variable y


\begin{gathered} -x+3y=6 \\ \text{ Add x to both sides of the equation} \\ -x+x+3y=6+x \\ 3y=6+x \\ y=(x)/(3)+(6)/(3) \\ y=(x)/(3)+2 \end{gathered}
