Probability is expressed mathematically as:

P(an\text{ event e occuring) = }\frac{Number\text{ of required outcomes}}{Number\text{ of Possible outcomes}}

Given:

Number of red cards = 4

Number of green cards = 6

Number of green cards that have odd numbers = 3

Total number of cards = 10

The probability that a card picked is green or an odd number is

\begin{gathered} P(\text{green and odd) = P(gre}en)\text{ + P(odd) - P(gr}een\text{ and odd)} \\ =\text{ }(6)/(10)\text{ + }(5)/(10)\text{ -}(3)/(10) \\ =\text{ }(8)/(10) \\ =\text{ }(4)/(5) \end{gathered}
