The majority of the homes in the United States and other countries have roofs that arecovered with a basic asphalt shingle. The pitch of the roof will determine how manyshingles will be needed to cover the roof. The pitch is also known as the slope, andgenerally houses have standard angles of pitch that can help with estimating materials.Average asphalt composite roofing shingles come in prepackaged units called bundles. Abundle covers approximately 33 square feet.Solve for the number of bundles needed for each of the following jobs. Remember, youcannot buy partial bundles.1. House has 2,000 sq.ft., roof is pitched at 9/12, so roof area = 2,500 sq. ft.How many bundles would be needed for this roof? ____2. House has 1,800 sq.ft., roof is pitched at 4/12, so roof area = 1,897sq.ft. How many bundles needed? _____3. House has 1,750 sq.ft., roof is pitched at 15/12, so roof area = 2,801sq.ft. How many bundles needed? _____4. Shed has 400 sq. ft, roof is pitched low at 1/12, so roof area = 402 sq.ft. Howmany bundles needed? _____5. House has 2,450 sq.ft., roof is pitched at 8/12, so roof area = 2,945sq.ft. How many bundles needed? _______

First, we need to have present that a bundle covers approximately 33 square feet, so we just need to divide each roof area by 33 square feet and we will find how many bundles we need (remember we cannot buy partial bundles)

For the first one, we need 76 bundles to cover the entire roof.

For the second roof would be needed 58 bundles.

For the third house would be needed 85 bundles, for the fourth 13 bundles, and for the fifth 90 bundles.

Remember that each value was approximate to the upper value because we cannot buy partial bundles.
