Given:

Cost of type A coffee= $5.75 per pound

Cost of type B coffee= $4.70 per pound.

Total cost = $834.70

Let type A quantity be x pounds

Then type B quantity be 4x pounds.

Then total cost will be given by the equation,

5.75(x)+4.70(4x)=834.70

Solving it,

\begin{gathered} 5.75x+18.8x=834.70 \\ 24.55x=834.70 \\ x=(834.70)/(24.55) \\ x=34 \end{gathered}

Hence, the number of pounds of type A coffee used were x = 34 pounds.
