Fractions

Suppose we are given the fraction:

(a)/(b)

It can be written as

a\cdot(1)/(b)

The first fraction indicates the operation "divide a by b". The second fraction indicates "multiply a by the reciprocal of b".

Thus, dividing by 3 is the same as multiplying by the reciprocal of 3, or 1/3

Answer: multiplying by 1/3
