To solve this inequality we have to proceed as if it were an equation, it means, isolate x to one side of the sign:


\begin{gathered} (1)/(2)(5x-10)>(7)/(2)x-8 \\ (5)/(2)x-5>(7)/(2)x-8 \\ (5)/(2)x-(7)/(2)x>-8+5 \\ -x>-3 \\ x<3 \end{gathered}

According to this, x is less than 3.
