Given the following question:

Six people share 40 pounds of gold evenly. Which means we have to divide 40 by 6.

\begin{gathered} 40/6 \\ (40)/(1)/(6)/(1) \\ \text{ Apply KCF} \\ (40)/(1)*(1)/(6) \\ 40*1=40 \\ 1*6=6 \\ (40)/(6)/2=(20)/(3) \\ \text{ Convert into mixed number:} \\ (20)/(3)=20/3=6(2)/(3) \\ =6(2)/(3) \end{gathered}

Which means each person will get 6 2/3 of gold.

Now for the second part:

Subtract 1 2/3 from the result, which means we subtract 1 2/3 from the solution

\begin{gathered} 6(2)/(3)-1(2)/(3) \\ \text{ Since the denominator are the same we only need to subtract:} \\ 2-2=0 \\ 3-3=0 \\ 6-1=5 \\ =5 \end{gathered}

After subtracting 1 2/3 from the evenly split gold each person will get 5 pieces of gold.
