We will draw the graphs of the 4 answers to see which one is closest to the y-axis

The red graph represents A

The blue graph represents B

the green graph represents C

The purple graph represents D

The closest graph to the y-axis is the blue graph

Then the narrowest is the blue graph

Then the answer is B

If the coefficient of x^2 is greater than 1 (ignore its sign)

Then it will be closest to the y-axis

since 4 is greatest than 2, then y = -4 x^2 will be the narrowest
