In the pythagorean theorem:

a^2+b^2=c^2

a and b are the legs of the right triangle

c is the hypotenuse of the right triangle (opposite side to the right angle)

For the given triangle:

\begin{gathered} a=x \\ b=6 \\ c=8 \\ \\ x^2+6^2=8^2 \end{gathered}

Use the equation above to solve x:

\begin{gathered} x^2+36=64 \\ x^2=64-36 \\ x^2=28 \\ x=\sqrt[]{28} \\ \\ x=5.3 \end{gathered}

Then, the value of x is 5.3
