A 15-foot ladder leans against a wall

so the angle of depression is 55°. What is the angle

of elevation? How far is the base of the ladder form

the wall?

part a) What is the angle of elevation?

In this problem, the angle of elevation is equal to the angle of depression

so

It's equal to 55 degrees

Part b) How far is the base of the ladder form the wall?

we know that

cos(55°)=x/15 -----> by adjacent side divided by the hypotenuse

so

x=cos(55°)(15)

x=8.6 ft
