We know that

• The "on-deck" circle has a diameter of 6 feet.

We need to find the area of the circle, as follows

A=\pi r^2

Where pi=3.14. Using the given information, we have

A=3.14(3)^2=3.14\cdot9=28.26ft^2

Therefore, there is needed 28.26 square feet of dirt.
