A) 3 teachers for 45 students

To calculate the reduced ratio, we will have to calculate the number of students to one teacher

\begin{gathered} \text{If 3 teachers = 45students} \\ \text{then 1 teacher = x students} \end{gathered}

By cross multiplying, we will have

\begin{gathered} 3* x=45*1 \\ 3x=45 \\ \text{divide both sides by 3} \\ (3x)/(3)=(45)/(3) \\ x=15 \end{gathered}

Hence,

The reduced ratio is = 1 : 15

The reduced rate is = 1 teacher to 15 students

B) 6 apples for 2 pies

To calculate the reduced ratio, we will have to calculate the number of apples to one pie

\begin{gathered} \text{If 6 apples = 2 pies} \\ \text{then x apples = 1 pie} \end{gathered}

By cross multiplying, we will have

\begin{gathered} 2* x=6*1 \\ 2x=6 \\ \text{divide both sides by 2} \\ (2x)/(2)=(6)/(2) \\ x=3 \end{gathered}

Hence,

The reduced ratio is = 3 : 1

The reduced rate is = 3 apples to 1 pie
