In order to determine the price of the stereo, first calculate the 12% of the initial price of the stereo, just as follow:

(12/100)(84) = 10.08

next, subtract the previous result to the initial price of the stereo:

84.00 - 10.08 = 73.92

Hence, the price of the stereo was $73.92
