Let the number be x

The equation is


(9-x)/(11-x)=(1)/(2)
\begin{gathered} \Rightarrow2(9-x)=11-x \\ \\ \Rightarrow18-2x=11-x \\ \\ \Rightarrow18-11=-x+2x \\ \\ \Rightarrow x=7 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the number is 7
