Given:

The father's age is 50 years.

Let the age of his daughter be x years.

The age of the son is (4+x) years.

In 8 years the age of the father is equal to the sum of ages of his children.

\begin{gathered} 50+8=(x+8)+(4+x+8) \\ 58=x+8+x+12 \\ 58=2x+20 \\ 58-20=2x \\ 2x=38 \\ x=19 \end{gathered}

So, the age of daughter is x = 19 years and son is x + 4 = 19 + 4 = 23 years.

Answer: Daughter's age is 19 years and son's age is 23 years.
