In order to determine the equation of the line for each case, use the following general formula:

y - yo = m(x - xo)

where m is the slope and (xo,yo) is a point on the line.

5. (-4,6), m = 8

Replace the previous values into the general formula, and solve for y, just as follow:

y - 6 = (8)(x - (-4))

y - 6 = 8(x + 4)

y - 6 = 8x + 32

y = 8x + 32 + 6

y = 8x + 38 This is the equation of the line.

8. (3,3), m = 4/3

y - 3 = (4/3)(x - 3)

y - 3 = 4/3 x - 4

y = 4/3 x - 4 + 3

y = 4/3 x - 1 This is the equation of the line.
