Let B the unknown number.

The quotient of this number and five can be express as:

(B)/(5)

Six more than the quotient of a number and five can be express as:

(B)/(5)+6

Finally we know that this is equal to eight, then we have the equation:

(B)/(5)+6=8

Solving for B we have that:

\begin{gathered} (B)/(5)+6=8 \\ (B)/(5)=8-6 \\ (B)/(5)=2 \\ B=5\cdot2 \\ B=10 \end{gathered}

Therefore the unknown number is 10
