Given:

Four puppies measured 5 1/4 in, 5 3/8 in, 5 5/8 in, and 5 5/16 in. long at birth

We will put the lengths in order from least to greatest

As we can see the whole number is the same for the numbers

So, we will compare the fractions

We will make the same denominator for all the fractions

the fractions are: 1/4, 3/8, 5/8, 5/16

So, the common denominator will be = 16

The new fractions will be:

(4)/(16),(6)/(16),(10)/(16),(5)/(16)

to arrange the fractions, we will arrange them according to the numerator

So, the fractions in order from the least to the greatest will be:

\begin{gathered} (4)/(16),(5)/(16),(6)/(16),(10)/(16) \\ \\ (1)/(4),(5)/(16),(3)/(8),(5)/(8) \end{gathered}

so, the given lengths in order from least to greatest will be:

5 1/4 in, 5 5/16 in, 5 3/8 in, 5 5/8 in
