I want to know how to do something like um there's 400 students and it increased by 15%. Something like that I dont know how to explain sorry

1) If there are 400 students and there was an increase of 15% then to find out the new number of students, we need to write the following

400 (1 + 0.15) Rewrite 15% as 0.15 add to 1

400 (1.15) Now multiply it

460 students

2) Note that:

• That 1 represents 100% or that 400, and 0.15 the increase

,

• Alternatively, you can set a proportion to find that out:

400---------------- 100%

x ---------------------115%

x=46000/100

x=460

Either way, you'll find that increase of 15% over that.

3) Hence, the answer is 460
