A tourist traveled 20 km away from the city by bus. He continued traveling in the same direction on foot at a speed of 4 km/h. Let d represent the distant from the city and t represent time of walking. Write an equation that show dependence of d and t.

Answer:

y = 10 + 5x

Explanation:

We are told he travelled 10 km away from the city by bus.

Now, after that he walked by foot in the same direction at the speed of 5 km/h.

Now, distance = speed x time

In x hours, distance he will have walked by foot = 5x

Which means total distance he has covered both by bus and walking by foot = 10 + 5x

We are told y is the distance from the city after x hours of walking.

Thus;. y = 10 + 5x
