I can’t figure this equation out. -2(x + 1) = -2x + 5

\begin{gathered} -(2x+1)=-2x+5 \\ -2x-2=-2x+5 \\ -2x+2x=2+5 \\ 0=7 \\ \text{False} \end{gathered}

Since equality is false there is no solution.
