Lashonda, Boris, and Josh have a total of $94 in their wallets. Josh has 2 times what Lashonda has. Lashonda has $10 less than Boris. How much do they have in their wallets?

Answer: X=52

Explanation:

first you build the equation. 2x (x being Lashonda's unknown amount).

2x-10=94.

now you add 10 on both sides. (10+10 and 94+10)

The 10 cancel out because + and - are opposites, so 10 is no longer in the equation.

and then 94-10= 104.

Now your equation is 2x=104

And now you divide the 2 (NOT the X)

104/2 = 52.

so X=52

or they have 52$
