in a right angled triangle, the longest side is the hypotenuse

and pythagoras’s theorem is used/ can be used.

a^b + b^2 = c^2 where c is the hypotenuse

so we know a = 12, b = 5, and c = 14

now check whether the statement is true

we should get c = 14 if it’s a right triangle

12^2 + 5^2 = c^2

144 + 25 = c^2

169 = c^2

√169 = 13 = c

so since we got 13 for c and it’s not 14

we know that this isn’t a right angled triangle
