find the gradient of the line -

3 - -2/ -8-4 = 5/-12

then sub this value into y=mx+c

y=(5/-12)x + c

then sub in one of the given coordinates

3 = (5/-12)(-8) + c

c= 3/ (5/-12 x -8)

Answer:

y = -\frac54x -7

Explanation:

Slope:

  • (3 - (-2))/(-8 - (-4))

  • -(5)/(4)

Y-intercept:

  • y = -\frac54x + b\\

  • -2 = -\frac54(-4) + b

  • -2 = 5 + b

  • b=-7

y = -5/4x -7
