in the complimentary angles the sum of angles 90 degrees

and in the supplementary angles, the sum of angle is 180 degrees

(a) the first angle is 48 degree

let the other angle is x

then

x + 48 = 90

x = 90 - 48

x = 42 degrees

so the complement angle of 48 is 42 degrees,

(b) the first angle is 65 degree

let the other angle is x

then

x + 65 = 180

x = 180 - 65

x = 115 degrees

so the suppplement angle of 65 is 115 degrees,
