Given a Cost of $9.00 and a Percent Markup on Cost of 30% find the Markup.

We can calculate the markup as the percent markup times the cost.

In this case, the percent markup is 30% (NOTE: when doing calculations with percentages it is better to express it as decimals, so in this case the markup percentage in decimals is 30/100 = 0.3) and the cost is $9, so we can calculate the markup as:


\begin{gathered} M=m\cdot C \\ M=(30)/(100)\cdot9=0.3\cdot9=2.7 \end{gathered}

Answer: the markup is $2.70.
