Find x if j(x) = 4x - 3

We need to find x in term of j(x).

First, if we move -3 to the left hand side as +3, we have

j(x)+3=4x

By symmetry, we can write this result as

4x=j(x)+3

Now, we need to move the coefficient of x to the right hand side. This is given by

x=(j(x)+3)/(4)

which can be rewritten as

x=(j(x))/(4)+(3)/(4)

which is the answer.
