ANSWER and EXPLANATION

We are given the function:

f(x) = -3x + 5

We want to complete the table by using the given values to find the missing ones.

1ST ROW

We have that x = -7, put that in the function:

f(-7) = -3(-7) + 5 = 21 + 5

f(-7) = 26

2ND ROW

We have that f(x) = -1, so replace f(x) with -1:

-1 = -3x + 5

-3x = -1 - 5

-3x = - 6

x = -6 / -3

x = 2

3RD ROW

We have that f(x) = 29, so replace f(x) with 29:

29 = -3x + 5

-3x = 29 - 5

-3x = 24

x = 24 / -3

x = -8

4TH ROW

We have that x = 3, so put that in the function:

f(3) = -3(3) + 5

f(3) = -9 + 5

f(3) = -4
