First, let's convert the mixed fraction given for the degrees that the compound rose into a fraction:


1(1)/(2)\rightarrow(2+1)/(2)\rightarrow(3)/(2)

Therefore, the compound's temperature rose 3/2 degees.

In order to get the rate, divide the degrees that the compound's temperature rose by the time elapsed. In this case, 3/4 hours:
