x = -7 and x = 1

\begin{gathered} x^2\text{ + 3x + 3x + 9 - 14 = 2} \\ \text{simplify:} \\ x^2\text{ + 6x - 5 = 2} \\ \text{subtract 2 from both sides:} \\ x^2\text{ + 6x - 5 - 2 = 0} \\ x^2\text{ + 6x - 7 = 0} \end{gathered}

Next we'll find the value(s) of x by factorising the quadratic equation:
