the slope of the line is,

$m=\frac{\text{rise}}{\text{run}}$
m=(20-0)/(0-8)

$\begin{gathered} m=-(20)/(8) \\ m=-(5)/(2) \end{gathered}$

it is also passing through (8,0)

so the linear function is, y = mx + c

y - 0 = -5/2(x-8)

y = -5/2x +20

thus, the linear function is y = -5/2x + 20
