Explanation-:

The equation is:

Addboth equation then,

`x+7y+(-x-9y)=17+(-21)`

Then equation become :

`\begin{gathered} x+7y-x-9y=17-21 \\ \\ 7y-9y=17-21 \\ \\ -2y=-4 \\ \\ y=(-4)/(-2) \\ \\ y=2 \end{gathered}`

The value of y is 2

Then value of x is:

`\begin{gathered} x+7y=17 \\ \\ x=17-7y \\ \\ x=17-7(2) \\ \\ x=17-14 \\ \\ x=3 \end{gathered}`

Value of "x" and "y" is:
