subtracting the second equation from the first can be done below

\begin{gathered} -3x+2y=7 \\ -3x-2y=4 \\ \\ -3x-(-3x)=0 \\ 2y-(-2y)=4y \\ 7-4=3 \\ 4y=3 \\ y=(3)/(4) \\ \\ -3x+2((3)/(4))=7 \\ -3x+(6)/(4)=7 \\ -3x=7-(3)/(2) \\ -3x=(14-3)/(2) \\ -3x=(11)/(2) \\ -6x=11 \\ x=-(11)/(6) \end{gathered}
