The distance between two points in the plane is:

d(P,Q)=\sqrt[]{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2}-y_1)^2

The points A and B have coordinates A(5,3) and B(5,6). Then the distance between them is:

\begin{gathered} d(A,B)=\sqrt[]{(5-5)^2+(6-3)^2} \\ =\sqrt[]{(3)^2} \\ =\sqrt[]{9} \\ =3 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the length of the side AB is 3 units.
