Answer:

The earth at the equator moves at a speed of 460 meters per second or roughly 1,000 miles per hour.

In addition, the earth takes about 24 hours to complete one rotation around its axis. The period of rotation is known as the earthday. This is the daily motion of the earth.

As the Earth rotates, each area of its surface gets a turn to face and be warmed by the sun. Objects rotate around an axis, but revolve around other objects. Therefore, the Earth rotates around its
axis as it revolves around the sun. It takes the Earth 365 days, or one year, to complete a revolution.

Furthermore, earth's rotation is slowing slightly with time. Thus, a day was shorter in the past. This is due to the tidal effects the Moon has on Earth's rotation.

Lastly, The South Pole is the other point where Earth's axis of rotation intersects its surface, in Antarctica.

Hope this helps!
