We have to combine like terms, so we subtract 2x from both sides since we are doing the opposite of addition which is subtraction. Then, add 7 to both sides. After that we can divide. And get the answer.
Why A isn't the answer:
We can't subtract 7 from both sides since the 7 in the equation is already negative so we have to do the opposite which is adding.
